Dementia Action Week

Posted: Jun 21st 2024

By: Harbour Healthcare

Dementia Action Week took place from the 13th to the 19th May2024. We were proud to support and participate in this special week that focuses on a topic so close to all our hearts at Harbour Healthcare
Our care homes were encouraged to take part by hosting activities and events that are enjoyable/beneficial to people living with dementia. Our care quality team came up with a huge list of ideas from storytelling, crafts, intergenerational play to practicing mindfulness – just to list a few!
We also hosted the ‘best forget-me-not flower display’ competition! Thank you to all who got involved; such hard work and creativity was put into all the displays! It was a difficult decision, but well done to our joint winners – Treetops Court Care Home and Cromwell Court Care Home! A special mention also goes to Ty Gwynno for their touching poem written and recited by their residents. You can watch the video below to see all the entries.
1 in 3 people living with dementia do not have a diagnosis. 9 in 10 people reported there are clear benefits to getting a diagnosis. It means you can access the crucial treatment, care and support you need. It may be daunting but don’t put it off, if you are worried about yourself, or someone close to you, then check your symptoms today using the symptoms checklist on: https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/
