Gotton Manor Care Home had a visit from the lovely 86-year-old local man Paul Youd. Paul has been challenging himself to improve his fitness and lifestyle whilst raising money for charity. Paul is a retired baker and civil servant and has two ultra marathons coming up. He has also turned vegan, which he says has completely resolved his arthritis. Paul is now supporting Viva charity.

Paul informed us that he hasn’t taken any public transport since COVID and now walks everywhere. Paul takes NO medications what so ever. His most recent challenge that he has set himself was to deliver a vegan chocolate cake to all of the local care homes in Taunton. Paul’s success has seen him deliver to 31 care homes in Taunton and surrounding villages including Gotton Manor. He has a heart of gold and informed us that he set himself this challenge as he recognises how important care workers are and how hard they work for a minimum wage and that they are sometimes not recognised or appreciated enough for what they do.

Paul has said that he wants to achieve 100 marathons before his 100th birthday and he wants to be able to be fit and health enough to play with great grandchildren when they come along. Paul has said that he is living his best life 😊

Paul has his own website where he blogs, and you can follow and donate at www.NoBreadIsAnIsland.blogspot.com
