Our ever-popular Devonshire House & Lodge Care Home is able to care for 77 residents, including those who require round the clock general nursing care and those who feel the impact of dementia on their daily lives, requiring specialist care.
Newly decorated lounges, bedrooms and bathrooms ensure that the standard of accommodation is certainly of a high standard and has brought to the home a whole new look!
However; it’s care and support for residents that is at the centre of our home. Resident care plans reflect all that an individual would want and need for their care to be delivered in the way they choose, with independence and dignity as prime considerations. All care teams are dedicated to delivering the best care to all residents and work closely with GP’s and other clinical professionals from the local area to ensure that residents are well cared for. Our team go above and beyond to ensure every resident is treated as an individual, which makes both living and working here a very special experience.
Daily life at Devonshire House & Lodge Care Home is enhanced by a ‘hidden gem’ of an enclosed garden which overflows with flowers, shrubs and raised flower beds; a beautiful place for everyone to enjoy! Many of the rooms overlook the garden and it is easily accessed by you and your loved ones.
Some of our bedrooms are extra-large, beautifully decorated rooms with en-suite wet rooms to ensure the very best of living for those requiring the highest standard of accommodation. When you are ready to move into Devonshire House & Lodge Care Home, we would encourage you to bring in items to really make your room your own, bringing in a touch of sentiment. Many of our bedrooms overlook our wonderful gardens which are easily accessible for residents with varying mobility; whichever room you choose, we’re sure you’ll be very happy.

Our food is of the best quality to ensure that you love what you eat and get everything you need nutritionally, too. Here at Devonshire House & Lodge Care Home, we understand that nutrition and hydration is the foundation of an individual’s wellbeing. We make sure that our food and drink is at the centre of our social culture; whether it’s breakfast, or an evening’s entertainment, the food & drink will always go beyond expectations and, what’s more – there’s no washing up to do!
Our Head Chef loves to speak with our residents regarding the menu that we offer and is always happy to accommodate special requests for a favourite dish.
Lots of special events take place throughout the year, with friends and family welcome to book a dining table for breakfast, lunch, or dinner to share those times and create special moments and memories.
Our activities are second to none. Whether it’s a game of cards with the grandchildren or a musical extravaganza with lights and a full band, you can be sure of a vibrant social scene at Devonshire House & Lodge Care Home!
Our activities not only encourage our residents to continue with lifelong hobbies but to also try new ones. Our dedicated activity teams are happy to promote, encourage and attend any activity to ensure that your loved ones continue have fun and fulfilment in their lives, and family members are welcome to join in too. Our aim is to promote stimulation for the mind and body, as well as general wellbeing.
Here at Devonshire House & Lodge Care Home, we have our very own newsletter for residents and their families to let everyone know about the wonderful goings on at the home.
We also take our residents for trips out too. From the best garden centre in the area to the sea front down the road – whatever we do and wherever we go, we always make sure we follow the desires of our residents.
We provide care to those who need support or companionship to ensure that all needs are met, no matter what they might be. Our residential support and care is ideal for those of our residents who do not require nursing care or nursing care associated with dementia.
We provide nursing care for those who require the extra care and support of a skilled & fully qualified nurse available to them 24hrs a day.
Our teams are trained to care for our residents with dementia and understand how stimulating environments, activities and interactions are essential.

Devonshire House & Lodge Care Home accepts individuals aged 65+. All admissions will have a pre-admission assessment.
Devonshire House & Lodge Care Home has a private car park with disabled parking bays, for people visiting the home. There is no charge to use the cark park.
There is also street parking adjacent to the home but please ensure you follow any restrictions in place.
Contact with relatives and friends is fundamental to their resident’s health and well-being and visits are encouraged.
There are no restrictions or booking requirements to visit Devonshire House & Lodge Care Home; however different rules apply should there be a Covid-19 outbreak, and they ask to not visit during ‘protected mealtimes’ unless is a part of the essential caregiver role.
Woolwell is a suburb of Plymouth in the county of Devon, England. It is situated on the outskirts of Plymouth. The area has a rich history dating back to the Saxon times.
There are several local parks in Woolwell including Cann Woods which is a large woodland area with walking trails. You can also visit Buckland Abbey which is a former Cistercian monastery that was converted into a stately home in the 16th century.
In addition to Cann Woods and Buckland Abbey, you can also visit the National Marine Aquarium which is an aquarium that has a variety of marine life on display.

Mel brings over 30 years of Health and Social Care experience into her role of Home Manager. This includes running a variety of health and social care care services within charities, private organisations, and local authorities.

Outside of her role, Mel enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Her hobbies include crafting and cooking. Mel has attained an BSc Honours Degree in Health and Social Care with Distinction in 2006, and has recently completed a Master's Degree (with Distinction) in Autism in 2021, as support for family members who are Autistic. Mel is also a member of the Skills for Care organisation ensuring up to date knowledge in relation to Health and Social Care.
